Why Leeds United should go all out for Milot Rashica this summer

According to Deichstube, as cited by Bulinews (h/t Leeds Live), Leeds United have joined the race to sign in-demand Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica before the summer deadline in October.

As per the report, fellow Premier League outfit Aston Villa, as well as Serie A giants Napoli, have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who is rated at €25million by the Bundesliga club. Leeds United have long been credited with an interest in Argentine international Rodrigo De Paul but the Whites have also added Rashica to their shortlist of potential targets.

Milot Rashica started his professional career with Vushtrria in Kosovo before rising to prominence at Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie. The 24-year-old spent two-and-a-half seasons in the Netherlands, accumulating an impressive 15 goals and 24 assists in 100 appearances across all competitions for Vitesse.

The right-footed winger was snapped up by Werder Bremen back in January 2018 and Rashica has since established himself as a key player for the struggling Bundesliga outfit. The Kosovan international played a key role as Florian Kohfeldt’s side somehow managed to beat the drop via the relegation playoffs last season.

Rashica has registered some impressive numbers, despite not playing for one of the top teams in the Bundesliga. The versatile forward has bagged 24 goals and 14 assists in 74 appearances for Bremen in all competitions, with his exploits putting several clubs across the continent on red alert.

Rashica would add more quality to Leeds’ wide options

Leeds United have already roped in Rodrigo Moreno on a club-record deal from Valencia to bolster their attack.

However, the West Yorkshire giants need to look for a few more attacking signings, especially in the wide areas before the transfer window slams shut. The likes of Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison all impressed in the club’s triumphant Championship campaign last term but none of them has much top-flight experience in any of the elite European leagues.

Bielsa, of course, has the luxury of calling upon the services of former Wolves winger Helder Costa. But it is worth mentioning that the Portuguese international’s end product hasn’t always been impressive.

Suffice to say, Leeds need to strengthen their wide attacking options considering the obvious step up in quality from the Championship to the Premier League. Milot Rashica, to that end, presents a talented young option in the market with a proven track record in the Eredivisie and Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old still has his best years ahead of him and his arrival at Elland Road would ensure healthy competition for places on the flanks.
