Why Ibrahim Sangare to Everton would boost their midfield

According to The Express, Everton have expressed their interest in signing Toulouse defender Ibrahim Sangare in the summer.

Sangare, 22, came through the youth ranks of AS Denguele and joined the French outfit in the summer of 2016. Though he initially struggled for the game time upon his arrival, the midfielder has become an integral member of Toulouse in the past three campaigns.

He has established himself as an exciting prospect in French football. His impressive performances have also attracted the attention of Newcastle United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Brighton, as per the report. Hence, Everton should attempt to secure his signature at the earliest.

The Toffees, meanwhile, have endured a disappointing campaign so far. After performing poorly under Marco Silva, they looked to get back stronger under Duncan Ferguson. Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival got them off to a good start but the results didn’t last strong.

After just 2 wins out of their last 7 league games, Everton are currently in 12th position in the league table. They have failed to carry on with the momentum and are unlikely to make it to the Europa League qualification spot.

As a unit, the Toffees have failed miserably. Except for Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, none of them has managed to show individual brilliance.

Though the attacking unit has done a decent job, the midfield and the defensive unit has led them to a downfall. The Toffees have already conceded 46 goals so far, which is too high according to their standards. Thus, it is clear that Ancelotti should bring in changes to various key areas if they are to progress further.

Sangare could solve Everton’s midfield issues

One key area which the manager should focus on strengthening is the midfield. The attack-minded midfielders have not contributed to the team as expected. The likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes have all been inconsistent.

They also have just two defensive midfielders in Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Morgan Schneiderlin. Gbamin has endured a nightmare first season with Everton since his arrival last May, undergoing two major operations. And Schneiderlin seems to be completely out of form.

Thus, signing Sangare from Toulouse would be a good option for the Toffees. The Ivorian has been in sensational form despite his side getting relegated from Ligue 1. He has featured in 25 games this season and is considered to be a budding defensive midfield talent.

The Ivorian U23 international’s inclusion would be a huge boost to the squad, especially given the lack of quality in the defensive midfield role for Everton. He could be a valuable player for the Toffees if he is able to replicate the good form.

He is just 22 and already has experience at the highest level. He could add competition for the spot in Ancelotti’s squad and could go on to represent them in the long run. Thus, Everton should manage to lure Sangare to Goodison Park in the summer.
