Why Danny Loader would be a future investment for Leeds United

According to Daily Mail, Leeds United are attempting a move for former Reading starlet Danny Loader, who is now a free agent.

Loader, 19, started with Wycombe Wanderers before coming through the ranks at Reading. The teenager then became only the third reading player to make his debut before the age of seventeen when he featured for the senior team in August 2017. He has also been capped by England at various youth levels.

The youngster was also a part of England’s squad which won the U17 World Cup in 2017. Despite being just 19, he made 35 appearances for the Royals before leaving the club this summer. Loader is highly talented and his impressive performances have also garnered the attention of FC Porto and Crystal Palace, as per the report.

Loader – A future star in Leeds attack?

Bielsa’s men have been brilliant in the attack this season, scoring 77 goals in 46 league games, which is the joint second-highest in the Championship. Patrick Bamford ended as their top scorer with 16 goals and apart from him, there is no established centre-forward in the squad.

The rest of the goals have come from other areas on the pitch. Tyler Roberts also looks comfortable while operating in an attacking midfield role. Leeds don’t have any other striker apart from Bamford and thus, they should secure the services of Loader this summer.

The youngster has shown immense qualities that belie his tender age and could be a future star in Leeds’ attack if he grows to fulfil his potential. He is just 19 and has a lot of room for improvement. He also has some experience and under the guidance of Bielsa, he could be a useful player for them in the future.

Moreover, Leeds can use him as understudy to Bamford next season as they don’t have enough options up front. He is capable of succeeding at a high level and with experience, the teenager could develop into a premier League material.

Verdict

With limited options in their attacking unit, it is clear that Leeds are in dire need of centre-forwards. And Loader could be a smart option on a free transfer. He has already made himself known at the youth level and if he is able to continue with the same form, the Whites would have a future prospect in their ranks.
