Why Chelsea signing Isco would be a brilliant move

According to El Desmarque (h/t The Sun), Chelsea are lining up a shock move for Real Madrid star Isco, who is also attracting interest from Arsenal as well.

The report also suggests that Los Blancos are planning a record deal for PSG star Kylian Mbappe and to have enough cash, Isco could be sold and he is likely to move to England.

Isco, 27, came through the ranks of Atletico Benamiel and Valencia’s youth ranks before joining Malaga in 2011. He was one of their best players in the two years he was there and his performances earned him the Golden Boy award in 2012.

He moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 and was became a regular member of the squad. He has helped the La Liga giants lift several trophies in the last six years, including the Champions League and Club World Cup titles four times each.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard’s side are very much in the race for a top-four finish in the league and they can qualify for the Champions League. But they have been inconsistent in the last few games.

As the games have come thick and fast, the youngsters have shown inconsistency in their performances and have won only one of their last 5 games in the league. The English outfit were allowed to sign players last month but the manager opted to not bring in reinforcements.

However, this summer, Lampard has to bring in new faces to the squad to improve the results. Mason Mount is the only attacking midfielder available at the manager’s disposal and this position must be strengthened with an experienced player. Hence, Isco should be made their top target in the summer.

The 27-year-old had a terrible 2018/19 season but is being preferred in almost every game and has been one of the reasons for Madrid’s rise in form.

The former Malaga man has made 297 appearances in the Royal White colours of Madrid and in the process, he has scored 50 goals and provided 52 assists. An attacking midfielder by trade, Isco can be effective as a left-winger too. And this would benefit Lampard, who can change his game plan accordingly.

He would be a great addition to the squad given his record for Madrid and his experience can be counted upon, after having played at the highest level for many years.

After having acquired the services of Hakim Ziyech, Chelsea would become more powerful in their attack with Isco lining up alongside the Ajax man. Hence, Chelsea should sign the £63m-rated Spanish star in the summer.
