Why Chelsea should keep hold of Jorginho amidst Juventus interest
As per Alfredopedulla (h/t The Sun), Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri is keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Jorginho in the summer.
Jorginho, 28, came through the ranks of Hellas Verona’s youth system and made a name for himself during his time at Napoli. After spending 4 years with the Naples outfit, he was signed by Chelsea, who were then managed by Sarri.
Though he could not perform at his best in his first season with the Blues, the Italian became an integral part of the side under Frank Lampard. He has been a regular member since his arrival and is one of the senior figures in the squad. Chelsea should avoid any temptation from the Italian giants and keep hold of their midfielder.
Frank Lampard has done a stellar job in his first season as manager at Stamford Bridge despite having to deal with injuries to the key players. The Blues have done well with a lot of youngsters in the squad and they haven’t disappointed.
Tammy Abraham has proved his worth throughout the campaign, scoring 13 goals and is their highest scorer. Mason Mount and Calum Hudson-Odoi have also helped significantly. However, they have faced several issues in the midfield.
Marco van Ginkel and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have missed the whole campaign due to major injuries, reducing Lampard’s midfield options. N’Golo Kante has also been injured several times. Jorginho, Mount, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic have been the regular starters this season and the Italian has played a key role. Thus, Chelsea should keep hold of Jorginho.
Jorginho is the only established defensive midfielder available in the squad, while Billy Gilmour, who has made an impression, is too young to be depended upon for a whole campaign. And this highlights the importance of the former Napoli man.
The £110,000-a-week Italian midfielder has featured in 37 games for the club so far and in the process, he has racked up 7 goals and 2 assists. He has transformed into an all-round midfielder and his presence in the team would be a huge boost.

Verdict
At 28, he still has a lot more to offer at a higher level and Chelsea should be able to enjoy Jorginho’s best. He could be a leader for them on the pitch and his qualities can never be doubted. Thus, keeping hold of Jorginho would be a wise decision by the Blues.
