Why Celtic should invest in Martin Minchev for the future

According to The Sun, Celtic are in a tough battle with several clubs to sign Cherno More striker Martin Minchev in the summer.

Minchev, 19, came through the ranks of Cherno More’s youth setup in his hometown and was promoted to the club’s senior set-up in 2017. Since then, he has been a regular member of the squad and has been in the spotlight for his impressive performances.

His eye-catching displays also earned him a call up to Bulgaria’s national squad. Since making his debut in March 2019, Minchev has made three appearances for his nation. The report also suggests that the Italian side Torino and Belgian outfit Anderlecht are also interested in securing his service in the summer.

The Hoops, meanwhile, have been dominant throughout the season as they were in the previous title-winning campaigns. They are currently atop the Scottish Premiership table, 13 points ahead of rivals and second-placed Rangers.

Neil Lennon’s men have also won the League Cup earlier in December. Except for the Europa League, they were in contention for the league title and the FA Cup before the season was suspended. However, with the coronavirus pandemic set to cause a financial crisis in the footballing world, it would be wise if they spent their cash on youngsters.

Celtic should make sure that there is depth and quality in every area if they are to maintain their dominance.

Minchev- A future leader in attack for Celtic

Star striker Odsonne Edouard has led the line brilliantly, scoring 21 goals in the league so far. Leigh Griffiths has played a supportive role, scoring 9 goals so far. And apart from them, Patryk Klimala and Vakoun Issouf Bayo are also available at the manager’s disposal.

Edouard, who has helped them so far, could be on the move when the summer transfer window opens as he is watched by many top clubs in Europe.

Thus, they need to invest in youngsters for the future. Having said that, Cherno More’s Minchev would be a shrewd piece of business for the club. The £1.5m-rated Bulgarian has already impressed in the efbet Liga, scoring 6 goals in 21 games.

The Bulgarian international’s inclusion in the squad would also bring in a healthy competition within the squad. This would lead to an overall improvement for the Hoops. Minchev has already featuring 70 times for his side despite his tender age, showing immense potential.

With Griffiths reaching the back end of his career and Edouard’s uncertain future, bringing in young strikers would help Celtic reap the reward in the future. Thus, the Hoops must make a move for Minchev and lure him to Celtic Park in the summer.
