Why Bournemouth should make a move for Fabio Vieira

According to The Sun, Bournemouth are keen on making a surprise swoop for FC Porto’s Fabio Vieira in the summer.

Vieira, 20, flourished through the ranks of Porto’s youth system. He has been a key figure in the U21 squad and is yet to make his debut for the senior team. The youngster is considered to be one of the brightest talents in the country after several impressive performances for the youth teams.

He is also a key member of Portugal’s U21, scoring twice in 2 games for the side. His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed in Europe. And thus, Bournemouth should make a move for him at the earliest before his transfer value shoots up.

Eddie Howe’s men have struggled in the campaign so far and have stooped low with their abysmal performances. With just 7 wins and 16 losses in the league so far, the Cherries are currently 18th in the league standings and are at the risk of getting demoted to Championship.

However, the report suggests that Bournemouth are set to lose some of their recognized players in the summer. Therefore, the manager should look to bring in youngsters who could carry the club in the future. And with the financial crisis at its peak due to the pandemic, investing in youngsters would be a wise decision by the club.

Vieira could be the much-needed midfield addition for Bournemouth

One area which the manager should focus on strengthening is the midfield. Phillip Billing, Harry Arter and Dan Gosling are the three main attack-minded midfielders in the squad. Though they have done a decent job, as a unit the team has failed.

However, Arter and Gosling have just one year left on their contract with the club and could leave once their time is up at the Vitality Stadium. This would leave the Cherries with limited options in the middle of the park. Thus, a midfielder is a must in the summer.

In that regard, signing Vieira would make sense. The Portuguese youngster has been in fine form in the past two seasons. He has already racked up 7 goals and 3 assists in 23 games this term and is capable of being productive from the midfield.

His inclusion to Howe’s squad would definitely add depth to their ranks, whilst he would also bring in healthy competition.
