Why Aston Villa shouldn’t let Mbwana Samatta leave the club this summer

Birmingham Mail have stated that Aston Villa January signing Mbwana Samatta could be granted a quick exit route, having not impressed the hierarchy.

Earlier this year, the Tanzanian joined Villa Park and became the first from his nation to play in the Premier League. Earlier this year, Samatta was in terrific form for Genk, having scored 7 goals in the Jupiler pro league.

Samatta has been in great demand and his 32-goal 2019/20 season caught the eye of a lot of clubs, with the player ending up as the top goalscorer in the Belgian top-flight.

Samatta started developing at Congolese club TP Mazembe before joining Genk in 2016.  And ever since that move to Belgium, he hasn’t looked back and has made a name for himself in European football.

The Tanzanian has shown that he has all the qualities expected. His sharpness and clinical finishing up front have caught many eyes and got him his opportunity in the Premier League. The 27-year-old has shown that he could be a lethal striker, and his initial glimpses have shown his ability to cause plenty of problems to the opposition.

He hasn’t been the same since restart hasn’t been in the same form. Birmingham Mail now suggest that Samatta would be offered a quick exit route, initially allowing the player to leave on loan.

Should the Villans let go of him or keep him?

Now that Aston Villa have managed to stay alive in the Premier League, they definitely need more strikers next season. Also, the fact that it has been just six months for the Tanzanian skipper in the Premier League, it is too early to show him the exit door without a lot of opportunities.

Despite the lacklustre performances, Aston Villa should hold onto Samatta. The very player had shown strong glimpses early on.

The club should give him at least half a season more before making a call. With time, Samatta could make an impact by scoring goals. The striker has proven his mettle against quality opposition on the European front and could make a big impression in English football if he regains his form.

The availability of a player like Samatta would allow the team to address a multitude of other issues within. Samatta can help Aston Villa in the Premier League next season and they must keep him.
