Why Adam Lallana would be a good addition to Leicester City

According to The Telegraph, Leicester City are leading the chase to sign Liverpool star Adam Lallana in the summer when his contract comes to an end.

Several other Premier League clubs including Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham are also monitoring him, according to the report. As of now, there have been no talks of a contract extension for Lallana with the Reds (h/t The Telegraph).

Lallana, 31, who came through the ranks of Southampton’s youth system, moved to Anfield in the summer of 2014. Prior to his move, he made 261 appearances for the Saints and in the process, scored 59 goals and provided 48 assists.

He was instrumental in Southampton’s promotion to the top flight in the 2011/12 season, where he scored 11 and further set up 12 in the Championship. He then became a major part of Liverpool’s team, which was under transition then.

Later, several injuries took a toll over him and eventually, his game time was limited. Since then, he has not started regularly due to the presence of bigger names in the squad.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are enjoying a good season. However, to sustain the momentum, Rodgers would be wise to make some adjustments to the squad. Hence, signing Lallana makes sense.

James Maddison is the only established attacking midfielder available for the East Midlands club and to boost their attacking ranks, Lallana would be a good choice.

The 31-year-old has made 175 appearances for Liverpool and his experience would be of great value. He has the ability to perform anywhere in the midfield and can also be deployed on the flank.

The English international is also capable of scoring crucial goals, which was evident in the game against Manchester United back in October. He scored the equalizer in the dying minutes of the game and helped Liverpool tie the match.

Lallana has won the Champions League, the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup with Liverpool.
