Why Arsenal must sign Wolves winger Adama Traore

According to The Sun, Premier League side Arsenal are interested in Wolves winger Adama Traore.

The 24-year-old Traore has turned heads in Europe this season with his stellar displays for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. Traore’s impressive figures of 6 goals and 10 assists in 43 games this term has put him in high demand, with rivals Arsenal and Liverpool chasing the Spaniard for his signature.

However, Traore’s journey has not been an easy one. After coming through the ranks at Barcelona’s youth academy, Traore made his professional debut as a 17-year-old in 2013. With the things not going according to plan at Camp Nou, Traore soon left Barcelona for Premier League side Aston Villa in 2015.

Luck seemed to have not favoured the Spaniard as one failed season at Villa Park saw the winger being sold to Middlesbrough the following summer. Traore finally found some success at Middlesbrough, where he played a total of 71 matches, showing glimpses of his electrifying pace across the flanks.

The Spaniard’s displays did not go unnoticed as he scored five times and gave 13 assists during his time with Boro, earning himself a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Wolves in 2018. However, it is with Wolves that Traore has enjoyed unprecedented success. Meanwhile, Arsenal have had a disappointing outing this season with the side currently lying 9th in the league table.

Traore can offer Arsenal some sharpness in attack

The Gunners have lacked creativity in the attack and have managed to score just 40 goals from 28 league games. If not for the form of their talismanic striker Aubameyang, who has scored their major share of goals this season, Arsenal would have been in an even difficult spot.

With 17 league goals to his name, the Gabonese international is their side’s top-scorer in the league this time. With the rest of the side’s attackers failing to impress, Arteta and Arsenal need new faces ahead of next season.

Arsenal recently bought Nicolas Pepe last summer, however, the French winger has not been entirely successful. He has managed 6 goals and 8 assists in total since moving to the Emirates but there is still room for improvement. Apart from Pepe, Arsenal just have another winger in their squad – young Reiss Nelson.

The 20-year-old, after impressing for their reserves, has broken into the senior side, making 11 league appearances but lacks experience. Considering all this and Traore’s excellent form, Arsenal could add some creativity and sharpness to their attack at least next season by landing the £70million-rated Wolves star.

Verdict

Arsenal’s poor goal-scoring record this season has made it evident that the side lacks creativity in the attack. With Traore’s performances guiding Wolves to an impressive 6th position in the league, he seems like a good fit at the Emirates if a deal works out.
