Said Nurmagomedov is scheduled to fight Douglas Silva de Andrade on July 9, 2022 at UFC Vegas 58

It’s as plain as a pikestaff that carrying the Nurmagomedov name draws attention, and puts some heavy weights on your shoulder. Such was the case for UFC bantamweight fighter Said Nurmagomedov, who’s been fighting in the UFC since 2018. However he is not related to the former UFC lightweight champion and Hall of Famer – Khabib Nurmagomedov.

An international master of sport in amateur MMA, Said has an MMA record of 15 wins, and 2 losses. He has never been finished in his pro-MMA career and has only lost courtesy of decisions.

Said Nurmagomedov made his professional MMA debut back in 2009 at World Ultimate Full Contact 15. He faced the undefeated Oscar Nave, who had a record of 4-0. He won the bout in the first round by way of an armbar. After going 6-0 in his first few fights, he would loose his first fight against Magomed Bibulatov.

Given his famous surname, one can easily consider Said to be related to the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov. A lot of speculations arose when Said signed with the UFC back in early 2018. In an interview with RT Sport back in January 2018, Khabib clarified that he was not related to Said. It is worth noting that MMA Fighting once reported that Said is a cousin of Khabib. However, Khabib has dismissed those rumors in the past.

When did Said Nurmagomedov make his UFC debut?

After having conquered WFCA by winning the AFC Bantamweight championship, Said Nurmagomedov stepped inside the Octagon in July 2018.

At UFC Fight Night: dos Santos vs Ivanov, (14th of July, 2018), Said took on Justin Scoggins. He started off with a split decision win.

He then went on to beat Ricardo Ramos via. TKO at UFC Fight Night: Assuncao vs Moraes 2. Said’s first loss in the UFC came against Raoni Barcelos – a unanimous decision loss.

He then bounced back with a KO win over Mark Striegl.
