Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest tennis players ever

Novak Djokovic is a Serbian professional tennis player, who is the world No.1 according to the ATP rankings.

A winner of 17 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic has held on to the ATP top spot for 280 weeks. He is also the only player to win a record eight Australian Open titles and the eighth player in history to attain a career Grand Slam.

Djokovic has also achieved the rare feat of all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. The Serbian is also the third man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all the four major titles at once.

Unlike many other sportspersons who rely on meat and dairy products a lot, Djokovic is a vegan and has credited his diet for his eye-catching performances on the court.

Djokovic also won an Olympic bronze medal in 2008 – his first Olympics and has also bagged the 2010 Davis Cup to add to his list of glittering achievements.

Djokovic after his recent success at the Australian Open earlier this year was elevated to the number one spot according to the ATP rankings. He pushed Spaniard Rafael Nadal to win back his top spot.

The Serbian now has a chance of breaking Roger Federer’s record of 310 weeks as the number one player if he manages to hold on to his top spot until October 5.

He first bagged the ATP World No.1 back in 2011 after winning the Australian, Wimbledon and US Grand Slams and finishing the end on a superb note.

Novak Djokovic should remain on top of the rankings as he has a busy schedule, like most top tennis players.

To date, Djokovic who has won numerous titles since turning professional in 2003 has an estimated net worth of more than US$250 mіllіоn.

For all the fame that he has received via his on-court exploits, Djokovic has also attracted a lot of sponsors and brands over the years.

Djokovic endorses Serbian telecommunication company Telekom Srbija and German nutritional supplement brand FitLine.

The Serb, who earlier used to wear Adidas apparel switched to Lacoste in 2017. He is also a brand ambassador of Lacoste.

Djokovic wears Asics shoes and has sponsorship deals with Head, watchmakers Seiko among many others.

In the past, Djokovic was also made a brand ambassador of Swiss watch manufacturers Audemars Piguet. He had also signed a sponsorship deal with German car company Mercedes Benz in 2011.

The 32-year-old owns a restaurant named Novak Café and Restaurant and has ventured into many other businesses also.

Novak Djokovic Prize money

After his recent victory at the Dubai Open, his prize money has reached an estimated sum of around US$143,631,560. He also holds the record for being the first player to hold $100 million as prize money.

Back in 2011, Djokovic had created another record by becoming the only player to win maximum prize money in a single season – US$12 million.

Novak Djokovic is married to his school sweetheart Jelena Djokovic. Jelena could be seen cheering the Serbian from the stands alongside coaches Marian Vajda and Goran Ivanisevic in almost all of his games.

Having started dating each other since 2005, the got engaged in 2013 and married the following year.

She is also the director of their charity, the Novak Djokovic Foundation. The charity aims to help children in Serbia realise their dreams by enhancing the country’s education system. The pair have two children right now – son Stefan born in 2014 and daughter Tara in 2017.
