What is the story behind Bray Wyatt, The Fiend and the Firefly Fun House so far?

Bray Wyatt is one of the most versatile stars in WWE and brought out The Fiend as his new gimmick almost a year ago

WWE might have hit a home run with Bray Wyatt turning into the leader of the Wyatt Family but his career wasn’t going anywhere during 2017-18.

Wyatt had a run as a WWE champion and also as a face as a tag team champion, but WWE just couldn’t take his character to another level.

Wyatt had to think of something new, and WWE did start something incredible with some pre-recorded segments of the Firefly Fun House.

This was the new gimmick from Bray Wyatt as he gave up his old swampy look and resembled someone hosting a kids show.

There were several puppets in the Firefly Fun House and Wyatt kept on speaking about making friends during the vignettes.

WWE didn’t give too much away as spoilers about Wyatt’s new character, but he would often change his voice into a menacing one towards the end of such segments.

Wyatt had been away from in-ring action for a while but returned to attack a rival. The former leader of the Wyatt Family brought out another character and now was doing two roles on WWE.

The Fiend is here

Bray Wyatt gave up the lantern and the swampy clothes from his other persona and took on the mask of the Fiend.

The new character’s debut was teased on several segments but Finn Balor was the first to be attacked by The Fiend.

This new character didn’t speak much while Wyatt spoke a lot on the Firefly Fun House. The Fiend also seemed immune to damage and his debut match came in SummerSlam 2019.

That SummerSlam 2019 match against Balor was won easily by The Fiend, and this set off a new chapter in Wyatt’s career.

He is cheerful and happy in the Funhouse clippings with the puppets, most of them end in an eerie fashion.

The Fiend then found his next target in Seth Rollins and after a long and protracted battle, won the Universal title at Crown Jewel despite Rollins throwing everything at home.

New belts from Wyatt

After winning the titles, Bray Wyatt came out with two belt designs for the Universal title. One saw the mask of The Fiend as the centre-piece while the other was carried by Wyatt during the Firefly Fun House segments.

Suffice to say, the one with the mask was the scarier looking one, as it resembled The Fiend completely.

Losing the championship

Wyatt successfully defended his titles against the likes of Daniel Bryan and The Miz. However, he lost to Goldberg at Super Showdown 2020, which was a bit of a surprise given how he started the character at SummerSlam 2019.

The former champion also hinted at not being happy and claimed on Twitter that WWE is burying their characters.

Losing to Goldberg was a bit of a surprise given how strong Wyatt and his Fiend character were. However, he will have a chance to shine again.

The next match for The Fiend is set to be against John Cena at WrestleMania 36. That should see a lot more mind games during the Firefly Fun House segments.

The new Bray Wyatt has often used Twitter to target his next victims and Cena is certainly in the cross-hairs currently.
