Neil Magny debuted a nickname for himself at UFC 250 after 10 years of professional fighting

Nicknames are synonymous to a fighter’s personality, and almost everyone sports one. Carrying a nickname comes in handy when remembering a native name of fighters from different parts of the world becomes challenging. UFC welterweight fighter Neil Magny has been around the sport for a long time now- and for the largest part, never carried a nickname. Up until UFC 250 when he took things for a spin.

Neil Magny defeated Max Griffin at UFC Columbus and took the mic immediately to call out Khamzat Chimaev. Magny has been wanting to fight the Chechen and has his best interest in derailing the hype train. But the UFC has handed him the uphill task of fighting the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Magny was born in New York, but is of Haitian and Dominican descent. This is how he landed up with the nickname of ‘Haitian Sensation’, which he has been using since UFC 250. Magny has also spent seven years in service to his country as an army man, and was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007.

What is Neil Magny’s UFC record?

Magny made his UFC debut at UFC 157 against Jon Manley, and won the fight by unanimous decision. He lost two consecutive fights after that through submission and decision.

Since those back-to-back losses, he went on a brilliant seven fight win streak, but the run came to an end at the hands of Demian Maia at UFC 190 via submission. Magny has some notable wins under his belt- names like Robbie Lawler, Kelvin Gastelum, and Carlos Condit.

His record inside the UFC stands at 18 wins and 7 losses, while his overall MMA record stands at 26 wins and 8 losses.
