Conor McGregor continues to grab headlines even though he hasn’t fought since his horrific injury against Dustin Poirier last year but what is his highest UFC men’s P4P ranking?
Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor is training hard as per sources and slowly getting back on the wagon, with a much anticipated return this year. He also declared that he’s done with the lightweight division and targets a fight with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman next.
Conor McGregor suffered a nightmarish injury at UFC 264 in his rubber match against Dustin Poirier, and has been sidelined since then. Fans were exhilarated to watch their beloved Irish super star work the pads earlier last month, even though the MMA community threw shade at him.
Since then, McGregor has stayed active on Twitter, eviscerating anyone who threw shade at him. However, the inactivity and lack of wins on his record in recent times have reflected heavily on his rankings in the P4P list. The Irish fighter is currently ranked eighth in the lightweight division, and has been removed from the top 15 of the UFC Men’s P4P rankings.
His highest ranking was at No.2 when he achieved the double champ status after defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. Regardless of the rankings, McGregor remains the biggest draw in sports entertainment, and will certainly get a quick title shot against anyone he pleases.
Conor McGregor is no longer the highest-paid athlete, while Jake Paul makes his debut on the list
Forbes released their latest highest-paid athlete list, and while it was certain that Conor McGregor would be on the list, he did drop down from his previous position. Meanwhile Jake Paul broke into the top 50, and McGregor slipped from his position at number one.
In 2021, McGregor topped the list at No. 1 overall after he earned a whopping $180 million for the year, which included selling a majority share in his whiskey brand Proper No. 12. Currently he is ranked 35th after he reportedly took home $43 million with $33 million coming from fight purses through two fights with Dustin Poirier and another $10 million for endorsements and sponsorship deals.
Jake Paul has kept himself busy as a boxer and promoter, and made reportedly earned $38 million for the year. Paul’s salary includes $30 million from fight purses and another $8 million from endorsement and sponsorship deals. Currently he is ranked at No.46.
One of the greatest footballers of all time, Lionel Messi came in first after he reportedly earned $130 million through a lucrative contract while playing for Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona along with a wide array of endorsement deals.
