Why West Brom must keep Kenneth Zohore with them this season
According to Birmingham Mail, West Brom are willing to listen to offers for their out-of-form striker Kenneth Zohore.
The 26-year-old finisher arrived at West Brom from rivals Cardiff City for a sum of around £8million just last summer. However, Zohore failed to live up to the expectations, having endured a meagre campaign in his maiden season with the Baggies.
Having failed to establish himself at the Hawthorns, Zohore is now being allowed to move elsewhere by West Brom. However, whether he would be allowed to leave on loan or on a permanent basis still remains unclear.
West Brom, meanwhile, earned Premier League promotion after a gap of one year following their second-place finish in the Championship last season.
West Brom must keep faith in Zohore
One of the major reasons for the club’s success last season was the excellent form of their attack, which scored as many as 77 goals in 46 league games. The bulk of West Brom’s goals in the league came from the boots of their forwards Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu, who scored 10 apiece.
However, they both turned 31 recently and are clearly nearing the end of their career. Apart from the veterans, West Brom just have Kenneth Zohore as a back-up. The Dane, meanwhile, failed to impress manager Slaven Bilic after scoring a mere five goals, managing just 20 appearances last season.
Zohore’s poor form in front of goal saw him fall down the pecking order under Bilic, mostly playing second fiddle to Austin and Robson-Kanu. Hence, the club’s decision to offload the out-of-favour Zohore this summer makes complete sense.
However, it does not seem like a sensible move at the moment. Zohore’s departure means West Brom do not have any other striker in their attack when they return to the Premier League next season.
This will affect the side’s displays, especially considering the fact that they will be featuring in the physically more challenging Premier League. Also, Zohore is a proven customer in the past with his former side Cardiff City, whom he helped gain Premier League promotion back in the 2017-18 season.
Leaving aside his dismal show for West Brom last season, Zohore is also an experienced campaigner playing for a host of top clubs such as Fiorentina, Brondby, and FC Copenhagen respectively in the past. Thus, West Brom must shy away from any such attempt to let go of Zohore. Rather they should keep faith in him and offer him more chances.

Verdict
West Brom have a dearth of strikers and offloading Zohore does not seem like a safe option at the moment. They should keep him in the side at least until they find a suitable replacement or sign a new player. Also, having spent the majority of his time warming the benches at the Hawthorns, Zohore might be eager to prove a point, which in turn would benefit West Brom.
