Why West Bromwich Albion should push to sign Karlan Grant
According to the Express & Star West Bromwich Albion’s search for a striker has led them to Karlan Grant of Huddersfield Town.
The report states that Baggies manager Slaven Bilic is hoping the club can at least deliver on one striker before the transfer window closes, as negotiations go on with the Terriers for Grant’s signing.

Karlan Grant is a 23-year-old English forward who plays for Championship club Huddersfield Town. He started his youth career at Charlton Athletic in 2009 and spent the next 5 seasons playing for their youth teams.
In 2014, he was promoted to the senior side and had a short loan stint at Cambridge United. However, it was not until 2017 that Grant got a good run of games at Charlton. He was again loaned out in 2018, this time at Crawley Town. A prolific spell of 6 months followed with 9 goals in 15 games.
On his return, he featured much more for Charlton. In total, he made 98 appearances, scoring 21 goals and assisting 10 more. Huddersfield signed him in 2019 and since then he has been steadily knocking in goals for them. His stats for Huddersfield read 23 goals and 5 assists in 57 games.
Do West Brom need him?
There’s a good reason Slaven Bilic is clamouring for a striker. The Baggies have a rather complex situation in their strike department. Kenneth Zohore’s return date from injury is still unknown.
So far, the other two strikers, Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu have shared the frontman role. The problem is, both of them are on the wrong side of 30. Not that, that’s a bad thing but it’s just good sense to have a young crop of strikers at your disposal especially in the Premier League.
While Callum Robinson’s permanent transfer does boost the Baggies’ options, adding another young and dynamic forward like Grant can go a long way in aiding their survival in the top flight.

Verdict
Karlan Grant has been in good form over the last year. He scored 19 goals in the Championship in 43 games last season. Furthermore, it bodes well that the Englishman is versatile enough to play on the wings too.
Thus, West Brom should look to bring in Grant before the transfer window slams shut. He would add depth across the frontline and given his age, can be a long-term investment for the Baggies.
