West Bromwich Albion Opinion: 3 potential forwards for the Baggies

West Bromwich Albion’s season so far can be classed both as a success and failure, depending on the aspects and criteria of selection. While they have excelled in certain fronts, their struggles have been quite public.

The recent dismissal of Darren Moore as the manager at the Hawthorns was inevitable. Despite the free-flowing, attacking football they played this year, their league position isn’t nearly as high.

Jay Rodriguez 1

The addition of Dwight Gayle on loan from Newcastle United has worked a charm for the Baggies this campaign, with the talented Englishman scoring a whopping 16 goals.

With Jay Rodriguez delivering at a similar pace, it is essential for the Baggies to not break this partnership. Hence, the addition of a new player to replace the outbound Gayle would be an extremely smart move.

Here are the three strikers they should be targeting:

Paul Onuachu

This Nigerian international forward is an absolute beast. He uses his height and heading ability extremely well while also being deceptively quick with the ball at his feet.

Currently playing for FC Midtjylland in the Superligaen, the 24-year-old has scored 14 goals and also has 5 assists to his name. He featured in his club’s Champions League qualification campaign, scoring a couple of goals for them in Europa League as well.

Roger Assale

Very similar to Dwight Gayle in both physical appearance and style of play, this 25-year-old Ivorian international could be the ideal replacement, given his exciting pace and ability.

Currently, a player for BSC Young Boys in the Swiss Super League, the striker has scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists. In his 5 games in the Champions League, he produced a goal for the European minnows.

Umut Bozok

This Turkish youth international currently plays for Ligue 1 outfit Nimes Olympique and is having a fairly subdued season due to the lack of service from his teammates at the French minnows.

Having scored just 2 goals and set up another 4 in his 21 Ligue 1 appearances this season, the former Metz man has the right attributes to really prosper in the English game. And West Brom would be the perfect club for the talented Turk to display his true worth.
