Why Tottenham Hotspur should sign Adrien Rabiot in January

Since he’s come into the club, Mauricio Pochettino has done a great job at rebuilding this Tottenham Hotspur side. Now, they look like one of the most exciting teams in Europe and they also have one of the best squads in the Premier League. However, they are missing a couple of world-class players to propel them to the next level.

Spurs currently lack the winning mentality and experience required to compete with Europe’s elite. Having only been in the Champions League a total of 5 times since the dawn of it, the furthest they’ve ever got in the competition is to the quarter-finals.

If they are to progress even further, Tottenham need a dominant player who can dictate play with some years of experience in the Champions League. And one player who has caught Mauricio Pochettino’s attention is Paris Saint-Germain superstar Adrien Rabiot, according to reports in the Mirror.

Rabiot is being heavily chased by a host of elite European clubs such as Barcelona and Liverpool (h/t Mirror), hence Mauricio Pochettino needs to act fast. Signing Rabiot would provide some much-needed depth as well as experience – and those are two things Tottenham currently lack.

The French midfielder can organize and dictate play on both sides of the pitch. He has an eye for a pass and often drives at defenders to instigate attacks. Moreover, he is defensively sound and provides balance in keeping the shape of the system deployed. Suffice to say, he is the complete midfielder.

A young, ambitious and talented player seems to fit the bill of what Pochettino usually looks for. The Argentine boss has the tendency to provide his players with time and opportunities for them to develop further. Considering the way Pochettino has brought the best out of players like Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, Rabiot could truly prosper by moving to north London.

Having not made any signings in the summer, Pochettino should look to bolster his squad in the winter. The French international could be the Spurs boss’ first signing in over a year; a signing that be well worth the wait.
