Who is Stacy Chapin? How is she related to Ethan Chapin? Learn all there is to know.
Stacy Chapin, the mother of Ethan Chapin, one of four University of Idaho students killed in an off-campus house in November, has stated that her family will not attend the suspected killer's trial because it would not be "well spent."
Stacy Chapin, Chapin's mother, stated on NBC's "Today" show on Monday that her family is committed to carrying on her son's legacy through their charity "Ethan's Smile," which grants scholarships to University of Idaho students, and her new children's book "The Boy Who Wore Blue."
Her family has been more concerned with healing with one another than with the culprit, who will stand trial in the autumn. "[The trial] does not change the outcome of our family, and it's energy that we need to put into healing our kids and getting back to a new family dynamic," Stacy Chapin explained. "We let the prosecutors do their job, and we did ours in our family."
Chapin, a 20-year-old Washington native, was a student at the University of Idaho studying recreation, sport, and tourist administration. According to detectives, he was staying at the house shared by his girlfriend and four other college students in the early hours of Nov. 13.
