Danish star Caroline Wozniacki hanged her racquet and announced her retirement from tennis
Former Liverpool and England captain / shared a video wishing Caroline Wozniacki the best after her retirement from tennis.
The Danish star’s last tournament was the 2020 Australian Open where she was knocked out in the third round.
The 29-year-old was a former World No.1 and even won the Australian Open in 2018. However, injuries took a toll on the Dane and she lost a couple of US Open finals.
Wozniacki also holds a record of the longest time in between World No.1 rankings. She was the No.1 in 2012 and returned to the top in 2018.
The Dane is also a lifelong Liverpool fan and has been seen wearing the jersey several times. She has also been at Anfield many times in the past.
Gerrard, currently the manager of Scottish giants Rangers, shared an emotional message for the 29-year-old:

Gerrard congratulated her for an “incredible career” and wished her all the best for the future too.
Wozniacki was ecstatic with the video and added that this video gave her a lot of pride.
Injury and health concerns
Wozniacki was one of the most talented players in the circuit but was never able to get that big Slam under he belt during the early 2010s.
Winning the 2018 Australian Open was a big weight off her shoulders but injuries caught up with her later on.
The 29-year-old also suffers from arthritis and has also been diagnosed with auto-immune disease, which happened just before the 2018 US Open.
However, she kept on competing and her retirement is a little premature, given she is just 29.
