The World No. 7 Casper Ruud will lock horns with Russian tennis pro – Karen Khachanov in the semi-final stage of the US Open.

The talented Casper Ruud is on the road to becoming a World No. 1. Two more wins and the coveted spot is his. The Norwegian has been quite impressive at the US Open this year.
He began his campaign with a win against Kyle Edmund in straight sets. In the second round, he came back from a set down to defeat Tim van Rijthoven. The 23-year-old won his third-round match against Tommy Paul in five sets. In the fourth round, he defeated Corentin Moutet. Ruud played some scintillating tennis in the quarterfinal to defeat the promising Matteo Berrettini in straight sets.
Karen Khachanov
Karen Khachanov has reached the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. The 26-year-old has shown a lot of grit and determination during his matches so far.
His campaign began with a loss in the first set against Denis Kudla. The Russian didn’t let it affect him and came up with renewed vigor to win the next two sets. In the second round, Khachanov defeated Brazilian Thiago Monteiro in four sets. Jack Draper retired during the third set of his third-round match against the 26-year-old. The Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta took Khachanov to the limit but once again the youngster held his nerve to defeat the veteran in five sets. In the quarterfinals, Khachanov dug deep and stunned an in-form Nick Kyrgios in a five-set thriller.

The duo has faced each other on only one previous occasion. It was at the 2020 Italian Open where Ruud got the win in three sets in the first round. Therefore, Ruud leads the head-to-head 1-0.
