Huddersfield Town player ratings vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Huddersfield Town overturned the odds to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at the Molineux in the Premier League on Sunday. This was the second win for David Wagner’s side in their last three games and the Terriers moved out of the relegation zone to 14th in the standings.
Huddersfield arguably produced their best performance of the season so far and dominated the game right from the kick-off. Aaron Mooy put the visitors in the lead just 6 minutes into the game, scoring with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area off Erik Durm’s cross.
Nuno Santo brought on Adama Traore and Morgan Gibbs-White to add that cutting edge to Wolves’ attack and the home side pushed for an equaliser. Raul Jimenez’s header from Traore’s cross was cleared off the line by Philip Billing.
Aaron Mooy doubled the advantage for the visitors in the second half, scoring with a curling effort from a free-kick in the 74th-minute to put the final nail in the coffin for Wolves.
The 2-0 defeat marked Wolves’ third defeat in the last four games and they will be looking to change their fortunes when they face Cardiff City next week.

1. Jonas Lossl (7/10)
Didn’t have too much to do as the Terriers dominated the game. Did well to get a fingertip on Jimenez’s header which was eventually cleared off the line by Billing.
2. Christopher Schindler (7/10)
A solid performance at the back by the German. Not afraid to stick his foot out when needed and made some good challenges to keep Wolves at bay.
3. Terence Kongolo (7/10)
Made some important tackles to prevent Wolves from having a shot on goal but could have got his team into trouble when he went down injured and played Jimenez on-side.
4. Tommy Smith (7/10)
Decent enough display at the back by the Englishman. Cut out the attacks with relative ease but was booked for a cynical challenge on a Wolves player.
5. Florent Hadergjonaj (7/10)
An impressive display from the Swiss as he kept things tight at the back and contributed to the attack with his overlapping runs and crisp passes.
6. Phil Billing (7.5/10)
Reacted ever so sharply to clear Jimenez’s header off the line and always a lively presence in the midfield; didn’t hesitate to go into challenges and contributed to the build-up play in the attacking third.
7. Jonathan Hogg (7.5/10)
Made some crunching challenges to win the ball in the midfield and didn’t let Neves and Moutinho dictate the proceedings.
8. Aaron Mooy (9/10)
A brilliant outing for the Australian as he was at the centre of everything that Huddersfield achieved. Scored the first goal with a powerful shot from outside the box and found the net with a delightful curling free-kick in the second half. Comfortable in possession, crisp with his passing and gave the defenders a tough time with his link-up play.
9. Erik Durm (7.5/10)
The German showed good awareness to keep things tight at the back and got forward to support the attack with his crosses. Bagged a well-deserved assist for Mooy’s first goal.
10. Alex Pritchard (8/10)
Deployed in a No.10 role, the Englishman sparked creativity into Huddersfield’s attack and looked impressive with his link-up play with Mooy and Mounie in the final third. Dfirted wide at times to supply balls into the box and a good display overall.
11. Steve Mounie (7/10)
He did well to hit the target numerous times in the first half with his headers. Linked up well with his teammates and always a lively presence in the final third; a bit wayward with his shooting but won the free-kick from which Mooy scored the second.
