Cory Sandhagen fainted after being choked out by Aljamain Sterling

Aljamain Sterling put his name again in the bracket for the Bantamweight title after choking out Cory Sandhagen as his rival fainted.

Sandhagen was the 4th ranked fighter in the division while Sterling was 2nd. However, the fight was over before it even started as the Funk Master got on his back in a triangle body hold.

His opponent tried to get out of the hold but Sterling kept the pressure on and was successful in getting a chokehold in his second attempt.

Sandhagen was on a seven-fight win streak in the UFC, however, the 28-year-old tapped out literally with his final moments of consciousness.

The referee immediately asked for Sterling to release the hold, which he did. However, Sandhagen was out and needed medical attention.

The medical staff were quick to the American and when Sandhagen came around, he didn’t even know what was going on. It was an impressive submission from Sterling and Sandhagen tried to stay in the fight but just couldn’t do it.

Sterling looking for the title

The 30-year-old has been speaking about taking up the vacant Bantamweight title. Henry Cejudo left the UFC recently and Sterling wants the crown.

However, he seems to be second in line after the Peter Yan and Jose Aldo fight. Sterling was unhappy with those two fighting but he called out Dana White for the title shot.

The Funk Master also asked for this fight to take place in Jamaica. He ensured that there would be thousands cheering him on.

The Bantamweight division is stacked with talent, and it will be interesting to see who the next champion is.

Sterling might not fight for the belt now. But when he does, he certainly cannot be taken lightly after this impressive performance.
