Jiri Prochazka made his UFC debut against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 251

Jiri Prochazka is the new shining star in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division. The Czech’s recent demolition of Dominick Reyes, earlier this month just showed how much of a threat he will be in the HW division.

Just two wins in the UFC, Prochazka is already ranked number 2 in the light-heavyweight rankings.

The Czech was a star in the Rizin Fighting Federation, where he won the inaugural Rizin Light-Heavyweight championship.

Following immense success at Rizin, he was roped in by the UFC in 2020. He made his debut against Volkan Oezdemir of Switzerland at UFC 251, against whom he won via. a devastating KO.

However, Oezdemir is now confident that he would see off the Czech if he fought him again.

Speaking in an interview with GNP1 TV, he said:

“I got the key a little bit now. I got the feeling of that fight, I’ll catch on the guy. It’s good now, I know what to do. I learned a lot from that fight.”

Asked if he believed Prochazka would be the champion; without hesitation the Swiss said, “YES!”

Volkan Oezdemir believes he will have a rematch against Jiri Prochazka soon

With Oezdemir pretty confident that Prochazka would be the LHW champion, he said he would do whatever it takes to face the Czech warrior.

“That’s the road. Once Jiri is gonna be the champion, it is the perfect time for me to get my rematch. I’ll be climbing the ranks, I will fight whoever, you know!”

Oezdemir is currently ranked number 8, and probably a couple of back-to-back wins would see him back in the top 3 of the division.

Despite, Oezdemir’s claims that Prochazka would be the champ soon, it will be hard to get past a seasoned and UFC-tested guy like Jan Blachowicz. Only time will tell!
