Kyle Daukaus expecting an early finish against Jamie Pickett at UFC Vegas 48

Kyle Daukaus is looking forward to rising up the ranks with a great show on Sunday at UFC fight night.

Kyle Daukaus is pretty happy that he will still have a fight on Saturday at UFC Vegas 48 after all that had happened. Julian Marquez was about to be his opponent but he was forced to withdraw from the fight just two weeks prior to the day of the fight.

Daukaus asked for a replacement for his fight to happen and UFC didn’t disappoint him. They found an opponent in Jamie Pickett but the bout will be a 195lbs fight at catchweight.

Speaking about the same in an interview with BJPENN.com, Daukaus said:

There was nobody right away that they offered me, I did throw out a couple of names to see if they were interested in fighting me. Those guys had fights scheduled so the UFC came back and told me Jamie wanted to take the fight but it is at a catchweight. That is only the breaking news now, nobody knows that yet, it is at a 195lbs catchweight. No big deal, I’m very thankful he took the fight on 10 days’ notice.” [via BJPENN.com]

On being asked about his change in game plan for Jamie Pickett

Kyle Daukaus was in high praise for Jamie Pickett as he accepted to fight Daukaus given that there was only ten days gap. Daukaus also complimented Pickett’s striking abilities and his fighting style btu also added that he is superior to Pickett in all these aspects.

Daukaus said:

He’s a very good fighter, has a very good frame for the division. He uses his strikes very well, he doesn’t mix it up too much and he’s not very good off his back foot, we have seen that in two fights at least. I’ve been studying up on him and I think it’s a great matchup and I think I’m superior in all aspects of the fight.” [via BJPENN.com]

Kyle Daukaus is heavily relying upon the tactics of getting his opponent run out of gas. There are not many better ways to gas out an opponent than taking him down. On his tactics, Daukaus said:

That first takedown that I get, if I get it, and I take him down and keep him down, I don’t see him lasting very long. I can kind of get a feeling that he will gas and it’s about me picking my shots and either TKO’ing him or submitting him early.”

Daukaus is not just thinking about his upcoming fight but is also expecting a ranked fighter put up against him if he comes out on top on Saturday night. For that to happen though, he should not only look to win but should dominate the fight and grab the attention towards him.

But if he losses though, it will be rock bottom for Daukaus. Just 10 days of planning for a fight can prove out to be tricky. The result of the fight will probably depend upon how accurately Daukaus manages to land his takedowns though.
