Kayla Harrison is one of the hottest properties in the MMA world and has been linked with a UFC move

Valentina Shevchenko opened up on the possibility of Kayla Harrison joining the UFC.

Shevchenko, the UFC women’s flyweight champion, has dominated her division and is considered one of the best MMA stars in the world.

The 33-year-old has 22 wins and three losses in her career and seems unbeatable. Another MMA star who is making a name for herself at the moment is Kayla Harrison.

The 31-year-old Harrison is a double-Olympic gold medalist and has won medals in several other competitions.

Harrison then transitioned into MMA and has dominated the competition. She was part of the PFL and won the 2019 and 2021 PFL women’s lightweight tournaments.

The 31-year-old is now a free agent and has been seen in several UFC shows. However, Shevchenko spoke about one problem that Harrison could face if she was in the UFC (h/t BJ Penn):

“I did not watch her fights but I know she is kind of like finishing everyone in the first round. Yes definitely, it’s a good thing for female martial arts that you have strong women like her in the UFC and outside.

“It is very hard I think for her to find someone really in high level because of the weight class. If you have your natural power and weight, every time it’s best for you. Just my opinion, it will be very hard for her to find opponents [in the UFC].”

Will Kayla Harrison join the UFC soon?

While Shevchenko feels that Harrison will find problems in find a rival, there still is no confirmation of the Olympian being a part of Dana White’s promotion.

White, for his part, has already spoken about Harrison joining and also taking on Amanda Nunes.

Nunes is one of the greatest female MMA athletes ever, and it will be interesting to see what is next for Harrison.

Shevchenko and Nunes have fought twice with Nunes coming out on top in both cases. However, it seems more likely that Harrison vs Nunes will take place before a third Nunes vs Shevchenko fight.
