Ketlen Vieira got the win over Holly Holm via split decision and the fans were not happy with the judges scoring
Holm came into this fight on a two-fight winning streak while her Brazilian rival had defeated Miesha Tate in her previous outing.
The fight was a close one with both stars trying to get the better of each other. While Holm put on quite a show with a lot of strikes. Statistics suggested that Holm landed 183 out of her 295 strikes while Vieira only landed 104 of her 178 strikes.
Holm also had close to 10 minutes of control while Vieira got the only successful takedown of the fight. However, Vieira’s punches and hits caused damage to Holm. The same could not be said about Holm’s striking on her rival.
In the end, the judges gave a split decision win to Vieira and the Brazilian now wants a shot at the title.
Fans slam decision to hand Ketlen Vieira the win
Suffice to say, many MMA fans were unhappy with this decision from the judges. Some brought out the volume of strikes that Holm landed as they tweeted their displease.
Holm might have got a lot of strikes in but there wasn’t a lot of damage done. Further, The Preacher’s Daughter also spent a lot of time clinching her opponent, and that might not have gone down well with the judges.
It is important to note that Vieira got the only successful takedown in the fight, but that didn’t last for long. However, he hits did quite a bit of damage to Holm, and that could have been the deciding factor in the fight.
