The main event at UFC Vegas 65, a heavyweight clash at the top of the division, between Derrick Lewis and Sergei Spivac was cancelled after ‘The Black Beast’ pulled out due to undisclosed medical reasons.

Lewis was reportedly rushed to the hospital, hours before the main card events commenced. The news came to light after the UFC commentary crew, Brendan Fitzgerald, Paul Felder and Michael Bisping informed the world of the same on the broadcast.

Lewis was looking forward to getting back in the win column after two back-to-back knockout defeats against Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich respectively. His last win came against Chris Daukaus back in December 2021.

As for Spivak, the Moldovan was on a two-fight win streak and was looking forward to continuing his good run of form. His record currently stands at 15 wins and just three losses.

Light-heavyweight bout between Kennedy Nzechukwu and Ion Cutelaba was promoted to UFC Vegas 65 main event

Rangy Nigerian Kennedy Nzechukwu and the fiery Ion Cutelaba faced off in the main event of UFC Vegas 65 following Derrick Lewis vs Sergei Spivac fight being cancelled.

After a rather even first round, Nzechukwu began finding his range and rhythm in the second. A perfectly timed knee just as Cutelaba was attempting to shoot for a takedown, swung things in the Nigerian’s favor.

From there on, he was able to capitalize on it, and ended the fight with a flurry of punches even as referee Keith Peterson waved off the fight.
