Released UFC fighter makes strong allegations against the organization
Saidyokub Kakhramonov, who had a 2-1 record in the UFC, announced his release from the organization via Twitter. The Uzbek fighter’s bewilderment at being dropped by the promotion was evident in a tweet he later deleted. [story via/ Bloody Elbow]
In 2021, Kakhramonov made his UFC debut, where he won via guillotine choke in the third round against Trevin Jones. He was supposed to fight Brian Kelleher last year, but the fight fell through, and instead he boxed and defeated Ronnie Lawrence by unanimous decision.
He was defeated by Said Nurmagomedov via guillotine choke in the second round back in December. Up until that point, it seemed like Kakhramonov was gaining the upper hand in the fight.
Frustrated and dejected by the release, he wrote:
“Before you see my name on the UFC Roster watch lol UFC releasing me after 1 lost smh. I never had fair shake in the ufc 3 fights almost in 2 years. Every time I walked into cage it felt like my debut. Sh*t 3 fights in 2 years? Feels like they brought me in to lose.”
Saidyokub Kakhramonov reflects on his last loss in the UFC
At UFC Fight Night 216, Said Nurmagomedov defeated Saidyokub Kakhramonov by submission at 3:50 of the second round in their bantamweight preliminary card event. Saturday’s event took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
The initial round was fiercely contested. Nurmagomedov came close to executing a guillotine choke in the first minute, but Kakhramonov popped his head out and won. Kakhramonov dominated Nurmagomedov for the remainder of the round until the final bell.
Despite his initial success, Kakhramanov went on to lose the fight. He spoke to MMA Junkie about what went wrong in the fight:
“My last fight was the one of the dumbest fights I ever had even then I was still winning until I wasn’t. UFC never gave me platform to really show my self my personality. It was a always either you take this or you wait another 6 months.”
