Jiri Prochazka and Giga Chikadze made big strides in the UFC rankings after their recent wins

Prochazka and Chikadze had successful outings at the recently concluded UFC Vegas 25. Thanks to their impressive performances, their rankings have significantly improved.

Chikadze faced veteran Cub Swanson in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 25. He was ranked number 14 in the featherweight rankings, going into the fight.

Hardly after a minute had gone in the first round, a nasty liver kick from Chikadze knocked Swanson out.

The UFC rankings were updated recently, and the win thereby propelled him into the top 10 of the featherweight rankings. A boost he needed badly to help him in his quest to fight the number 1 ranked Max Holloway.

Chikadze also became the first ever Georgian in the history of the UFC to break into the top 10 of the UFC rankings.

In the main event, Prochazka took on Dominick Reyes in a light-heavyweight bout. Prochazka had made his UFC debut only last year, against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 251, and was on a 11-fight win streak prior to the fight.

The Czech had already broken into the top 5 of the light-heavyweight rankings, after beating Oezdemir.

Prochazka defeated Reyes in round 2, with a brutal spinning back elbow KO. The victory took the 28-year old, all the way to number 2 in the light-heavyweight rankings.

Jiri Prochazka responds to Jan Blachowicz’s callout

Light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz teased a fight against Prochazka soon after the latter’s victory. He called him out for a fight in Cieszyn, a town in Poland on the border between Poland and Czech Republic.

Blachowicz however clarified that he would take on Prochazka only after beating Glover Teixeira at UFC 266.

In the meantime, Prochazka replied to Blachowicz tweeting, “If you defend @gloverteixeira It will be my pleasure.”

Blachowicz defends his title against Teixeira at UFC 266 in September. He will be looking forward to beating the aging Brazilian, and then beat the surging Czech.
