This controversy is not the first time Strickland has courted controversy. Earlier this year, he made inappropriate remarks about YouTuber and comedian Nina-Marie Daniele during an interview, citing her Instagram following and attire as the reasons for the interview.
Strickland’s tumultuous past includes admitting to being a neo-Nazi during his youth and overcoming a challenging upbringing marked by an abusive father and a “white supremacist” grandfather. He credited MMA with leading him on a path to “repentance” and expressed gratitude for finding an alternative to a potentially dark and destructive lifestyle.
Strickland’s controversial comments have once again put him in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, leaving the UFC event organizers to grapple with the fallout as they seek to distance themselves from his divisive rhetoric.
