One of the most highly anticipated heavyweight bouts in recent years had a rather unexpected ending. When a fighter like Francis Ngannou steps inside the Octagon, one hardly expects a fight to go the distance. However, the main event of UFC 270 saw Ngannou and Gane fight hard for the full 25 minutes. As expected, Gane took control of the fight early on making ‘The Predator’ miss.
In the second round of the fight, it looked as if Gane will walk away with a victory. However, a change of plans from the Cameroonian saw him regain control over the fight for the final three rounds of the fight. Ngannou scored four takedowns in the final three rounds of the fight. Interestingly, this was more than all of his previous fights combined.
Ngannou surprised everyone with his improved ground game and silenced everyone who thought Gane was gonna pick apart the heavyweight champion. With a dominating victory over Gane, it remains to be seen what happens with Ngannou in the UFC with his future in doubt.
