Tony Ferguson making his weight cut for the cancelled UFC 249 event got a lot of people talking

Tony Ferguson is one of the weirdest MMA fighters in the world, but that hasn’t stopped him from being one of the best.

The UFC Lightweight star stunned the world by deciding to make his weight cut for UFC 249. However, the event was cancelled a while back and El Cucuy isn’t set to fight before 9 May.

Nevertheless, Ferguson proved to all via photos that he did lose close to eight pounds overnight, and was a man of his word.

Chael Sonnen had spoken about this being a move that shows off his mentality, and David Goggins agrees with that too.

The Ultramarathon star had a fantastic take on Ferguson’s weight cut, and did it all while running in front of a few hills.

Goggins questioned what statement was to be made and spoke about the “psychology of savagery” before explaining Ferguson’s actions:

“I got this video the other day of UFC Fighter, [Tony] Ferguson.

“This m***** f***** weighs in and the UFC is f****** cancelled. He wasn’t just weighing in. He was getting in the f****** heads of his opponents.

“What he did was this, he wanted you to remember his f****** hands and elbows slice you the f*** up.

“Remember this. Stay hard at all times. Savagery.”

Ferguson is a beast

Sonnen and Goggins are right about Ferguson sending a message, and the UFC star is looking good for his clash against Gaethje.

Goggins would know a thing or two about being ready for a fight. The 45-year-old is a retired US Navy SEAL and served in the Iraq War too.

The American is an ultramarathon runner and takes part in other marathon events too.

Ferguson, for his part, has to stay focused ahead of the 9 May UFC event. His next fight against Gaethje will also be for the interim UFC Lightweight title, and El Cucuy should be the favourite for this clash.
