Stipe Miocic responds to Jon Jones not willing to fight him

Jon Jones recently refused to fight Stipe Miocic, on his heavyweight debut

Stipe Miocic, hailed by many as the UFC Heavyweight GOAT, was recently destroyed by a killing machine – Francis Ngannou, at UFC 260. The Cleveland native thereby lost his heavyweight title.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Miocic and his fans since he was knocked out cold. Such losses rarely give you an immediate rematch against your opponent.

In the wake of this, UFC President Dana White said in an interview that Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou didn’t look like it was going to happen, and hence he had decided to set up a fight between Jones and Miocic.

No sooner the suggestion went to Jones’ ears than he disagreed with it. He said that he would probably defend his title against Miocic, but never make his debut against him. Jones was keen on taking Ngannou on his debut, since he had become the heavyweight champion.

Miocic spoke to Submission Radio recently, and was asked to give his thoughts on Jones’ comments.

Mioic said:

“It is what it is. I’m not a matchmaker and I’m not worried about it…I’m only here to get my rematch and get that belt back.”

Miocic is expected to face the winner of a possible fight between Derrick Lewis and Francis Ngannou.

Stipe Miocic plans to return soon to the Octagon

The loss against Ngannou at UFC 260 has made Miocic hungry. He wants to get hold of his belt once again, as soon as possible.

Miocic has been adding some extra pounds as well, for more strength and power. He usually fights at around 225lbs, and is now set for his future fights, at 250lbs.

In the same interview, Miocic revealed when he would be returning to the Octagon. He just had one thing in mind, getting the belt back:

“I don’t know, we will see. We will see, when I get a rematch.”
