Gillian Robertson wasn’t beaten up much in her record-breaking win but she did have one minor injury against Poliana Botelho

Canadian UFC star Gillian Robertson created history in the promotion by winning a record sixth fight in the women’s flyweight division.

She surpassed a couple of other big names who were tied with her at five wins and wants to face Antonina Shevchenko next.

The 25-year-old improved her MMA record to nine wins and four losses. She is also 4-1 in her last five UFC battles.

While she picked up a unanimous win, the Canadian wasn’t happy with her performance. She was looking to finish her opponent and carry a 100% finish record and was angry at missing out.

Nevertheless, there was some cause for celebration after her win at Fight Island and she was handed over candy and champagne from the Abu Dhabi hotel.

Burn marks from the mat

While Robertson wasn’t tagged much during the clash, she did show off some mat burn marks. The mat of the Octagon can lead to some issues such as these, especially since the fighters don’t wear too much protection.

This was just a small price to pay as Robertson continued shining in the UFC. Apart from getting the most wins in the Flyweight division, she holds a couple of other records too.

The Canadian has the most submissions in this women’s UFC division and most stoppages too. It will be interesting to see what is next for the 15th ranked star.

A clash against Shevchenko could be a smart move given she is just a couple of ranks above her. Antonina is also the sister of UFC Flyweight Champion Valentina, and Robertson could end up facing the champ if she keeps on winning in such fashion.
