UFC middleweight Paulo Costa “politely declines” a multi-fight contract extension with the UFC

Paulo Costa has been forthright about the impending free agency that awaits him and the fact that he only has one fight left on his current deal. In addition, he has stated that he has not yet signed a bout agreement to compete against Robert Whittaker at UFC 284, and that he is eagerly anticipating free agency. Costa has made it clear that he is unhappy with his current contract due to the pay he receives.

During a recent appearance on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour, he lamented the fact that he only has one fight left on his UFC contract:

“I have one more, I didn’t know, I thought this was the last one but I have one more. I’m looking forward to being a free agent for sure, I will not lie to you. I’d (thought) this was the last one of this contract. I really believe it’s not just for me, it’s for everybody. I’m on a high, high level, fighting the best of this division and my contract is too old. When I fought Marvin Vettori, I got $35,000. $35,000. For this one was a couple more, a couple more, I got the win bonus, and because when I fought Marvin Vettori, I got a 20% reduction… I need to talk with them and see. I’m not rushing up to see, but we need to see, we need to figure it out. I’m not happy with the current contract, of course.” [via/ BJPenn.com]

Paulo Costa has once more taken to social media in order to reveal that he has apparently declined an offer to extend his contract. The Brazilian claims that he was presented with a deal for six fights, but he is not interested in signing contracts for more than one fight at a time:

“so I politely declined. they offer a 6-fight deal, but I’m not interested in a multi-fight deal.”

Paulo Costa believes that Brazil cannot win the FIFA World Cup

Paulo Costa lashed out at the Brazilian football team representing the nation at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The country rich with talent in the sport dominated the game between the 50’s and the 70’s. Their last victory in the biggest tournament in the world came way back in 2002. While the Selecaos aim to lay hands on the gold once again, UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa thinks differently.

Paulo Costa made the shocking claim that Brazil can’t win the World Cup because the players are “feminists who apologise for being straight and white.” Brazil’s World Cup campaign got off to a winning start on Thursday night when they defeated Serbia 2-0 behind two goals from Richarlison in the second half, one of which was a spectacular bicycle kick.

But Brazilian MMA superstar Costa seemed unimpressed by his countrymen’s victory, casting doubt on their prospects in Qatar.

He too to Twitter to voice his concerns and posted an image of former national team superstars Ronaldinho and Adiel, who was seen holding a gun. Costa captioned the post:

“Brazilian soccer team were respectable when they had drug dealers to make party’s officials and shemale fucker Like Ronald at 2006 or 2002 . Now they all are feminists or apologize for being straight white . They cannot win wolrd cup sorry . Bring old times back.”
