On the twelfth anniversary of their Strikeforce bout, Israel Adesanya pays tribute to Nick Diaz and Paul Daley

The fight between Nick Diaz and Paul Daley at Strikeforce will be talked about for a long time. Twelve years ago, two of the sport’s most exciting welterweights squared off, and the fight did not disappoint.

From the opening bell, both fighters exchanged heavy blows, with Diaz using his volume to force Daley to the counterattack. On the other hand, Daley was no pushover, and he landed some thunderous shots of his own that briefly knocked Diaz off balance.

The two combatants seemed eager to stand and exchange blows as the fight progressed, and the spectators responded by standing to get a better view. Diaz was successful with more of his punches, but Daley posed a constant threat with his power shots.

Diaz was knocked down multiple times, but the American showed incredible toughness and resilience by getting back up and winning via technical knockout in the final three seconds of the first round.

On a previous episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Israel Adesanya proclaimed the fight to be “one of the greatest one-round fights in mixed martial arts history.” Ten years after the end of the iconic war, Israel Adesanya wrote a moving tribute to it:

“I love this sh*t!! [salute emoji] to the war dogs. Newbies and puppies take notes.”

Israel Adesanya sends chilling message to the middleweight division following emphatic victory over Alex Pereira at UFC 287

Israel Adesanya successfully won back his UFC middleweight title against Alex Pereira with a second-round knockout.

Throughout the first two rounds, the bitter rivals traded blows with one other. Pereira chopping at Adesanya’s legs, while the challenger fought with more forward pressure and urgency than in their previous encounter. Adesanya unleashed a right hand that hit flush and disoriented Pereira, and then a follow-up right knocked the champion out cold- an extremely exciting conclusion from the Nigerian-born, Auckland-based superstar, who successfully defends his middleweight belt.

Adesanya managed to exact revenge on his long rival Alex Pereira and in the words of ‘The Last Stylebender’, he finally managed to settle his score.

“Having fun right now…but the rest of yous are fucked!! You actually have zero idea!!!”
