Josh Jones, manager of Miesha Tate provided COVID-19 update after his client tested positive for the virus

Miesha Tate who made her comeback to MMA (after almost 5 years) in July this year, has had her second fight on October 16 pushed back.

The former women’s bantamweight champion has tested positive for COVID-19. She was scheduled to take on Ketlen Vieira on the 16th of October.

The fight was set to headline the UFC event at the UFC Apex (UFC Vegas 40), and now it looks like it might be pushed to a later date.

The news of Tate testing positive for COVID-19 was confirmed by her manager, Josh Jones, who informed Marc Raimondi of the same. Sherdog were the first to report it.

He also clarified that Tate was doing well, and their plan was to reschedule the fight to a later date.

Here is ESPN MMA’s Tweet of the same:

“Miesha Tate has tested positive for COVID-19 and her bout against Ketlen Vieira is off the Oct. 16 card, Tate’s manager Josh Jones confirmed to @marc_raimondi. First reported by Sherdog. Jones said Tate is “doing OK” and the plan is to reschedule the fight for a later date.”

Ketlen Vieira will be a tough nut to crack for Miesha Tate

Number 7 ranked women’s bantamweight Ketlen Vieira will prove to be a tough nut to crack for Miesha ‘Cupcake’ Tate.

However, the Brazilian’s form in recent times has been a thing of worry. She has managed to win just 1 of her last three fights, with her last fight against Yana Kunitskaya ending in a unanimous decision loss.

Tate, on the other hand, is coming off a TKO win over the experienced Marion Reneau (now-retired) at UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs Moises.
