Miesha Tate reacts to Aspen Ladd criticism over weight cut drama

Aspen Ladd recently had weight cut troubles and had her fight cancelled

Ahead of UFC Vegas 193, UFC women’s bantamweight Aspen Ladd had trouble making weight for her fight against Macy Chiasson.

She came in 6 pounds heavier than the limit, which led to the fight being cancelled.

However, Ladd did attempt to somehow try and make the cut, making the use of a towel. The minimum she could come down to was 137 lbs.

Following her weigh-in, UFC returnee and former champ Miesha Tate accused Ladd of cheating – trying to manipulate the scale in every way possible.

It looked like Tate was speaking on behalf of Chiasson.

Now, with Ladd back, fit and healthy ahead of her ‘featherweight’ bout against Norma Dumont, she was asked about her exchange with Tate during the media day.

Ladd was quite critical of Tate, and went on to speak about her ambitions of meeting Tate down the line one day.

Responding to the same on Twitter, Tate said:

“Some people aren’t afraid to call it like they see it. It’s not an attack on you going through something unpleasant, I don’t wish bad on anyone. You tried to manipulate the scale to read a weight that was not accurate. That’s unfair play, If anything I’d say I’m defending Macy.”

Aspen Ladd will be looking forward to seeing off Norma Dumont

Aspen Ladd will headline UFC Vegas 40. The featherweight bout will see her taking on Norma Dumont.

This will be Ladd’s first fight in almost 2 years, she is coming off a win over Yana Kunitskaya in December 2019.

Dumont, on the other hand, is coming off a split decision victory over Felicia Spencer at UFC Fight Night: Font vs Garbrandt.
