There was something off about Conor McGregor at UFC 257 when he lost to Dustin Poirier

Chael Sonnen, the host of Beyond the Fight podcast on YouTube shared a little inside information about what was up with Conor McGregor at UFC 257.

‘The Notorious One’ was not according to a member of the promotion who was there at Fight Island.

“I spoke to another gentlemen of the UFC, who was there at Fight Island, who told me that the whole fight week felt a little different, observing Conor. He goes ‘he [McGregor] came in at the hotel, he had his whole family with him.

“Everyday, he never separated from the family. He was playing with the kids… It was one of the scenes where it didn’t look like the same tension that you can cut with a knife, of a typical Conor McGregor fight. In addition to the whole town not being Irish.”

The Irishman put out an Instagram post that was captioned ‘No more mr nice guy‘. And Sonnen said that the UFC member he spoke to, believes McGregor’s post was in the context of how he was at Fight Island ahead of UFC 257.

What next for Conor McGregor after UFC 257 loss

Professional MMA record does not matter so much if you’re a legend of the sport like Conor McGregor (22-5-0) is. A few losses here and there mean nothing if you’re regularly competing in title fights.

But it is still a nice little statistic that goes on to define your legacy in the sport, at least to a layman, who would not care so much to go into the depths of why the fighter’s record is the way that it is.

This is probably the reason why MMA legend Jon Jones is looking forward to Dana White removing the 1 single loss on his record. McGregor, though, has 5 losses in his career now.

3 of those have come in his last 6 fights. 2 have been in his last 3 fights.

But the Irishman would have the chance to make his record look a little better with a statement victory over Dustin Poirier as a trilogy fight seems like it will happen soon.
