Max Holloway creates UFC records after one of the best featherweight fights of all time against Yair Rodriguez

This week’s UFC Vegas 42 gave the fans a fight to remember. Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez went at it for 25 minutes to put on one of the best fights in the featherweight division of all time. While Holloway registered back to back impressive victories, he was also successful in adding several records to his name.

The Hawaiian added three records to his name during his fight against Rodriguez. That were:

  • The first fighter to register over 3000 strikes landed.
  • Career high 3 takedowns in a fight.
  • Only fighter to have at least 25 fights in the UFC and not get knocked down.

The former featherweight champion marked an impressive victory over Rodriguez. The two went back and forth for 25 minutes. Rodriguez did manage to make things a bit difficult for Holloway, however, the Hawaiian managed to get the job done. Holloway has marked a statement victory which shall also see him get the title shot against his long time rival Alex Volkanovski.

Both Holloway and Rodriguez did some significant damage on each other. As per the usual UFC norms for such situations, both fighters were transported to the hospital straight away. Further details on the injuries sustained by both fighters is yet to be awaited.

Both Rodriguez and Holloway walked away with immense respect for each other. Moreover, the two were seen embracing each other while heading to the hospital. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for both of these fighters.
