Lauren Murphy says she will be the one to give Valentina Shevchenko a run for her money

Valentina Shevchenko has been a puzzle in the UFC women’s division, that no one has ever come close to solving (barring Amanda Nunes). The Kyrgyzstani who is the women’s flyweight champion has steamrolled any opponent that has come her way.

Her recent victory over former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade at UFC 261, showed how holistic her skillsets are.

However, number 3 ranked women’s flyweight Lauren Murphy hopes to become the first fighter to give Shevchenko a real challenge. Murphy who takes on Joanne Calderwood next month at UFC 263, believes she will soon be fighting ‘Bullet’.

Murphy addressed this in an interview with the Schmo, when asked by him what she thought of Katlyn Chookagian fighting Shevchenko in a rematch.

She was quoted as saying:

“Yes sir, I saw Katlyn [Chookagian] fight Valentina and she wasn’t any challenge for Valentina. Nobody has been a challenge for Valentina, but I will be!”

Lauren Murphy has never been finished in her long career

Murphy is not just another average women’s fighter. She is one tough woman.

Murphy has been a part of the UFC since 2014, and losses early on in her UFC career, hindered her from breaking into the top rankings.

However, all of her 4 losses have been either via. split decision or unanimous decision, and in fact it has been quite a while since she tasted defeat.

Murphy is currently on a four-fight win streak, which saw her break into the top 5 of the women’s flyweight rankings.
