Stephen Thompson called out Leon Edwards but Khamzat Chimaev wants to fight the American next

Khamzat Chimaev is hungry for his next UFC fight and has called out Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.

The Swede is coming off an impressive 17-second knockout win over Gerald Meerschaert from the latest UFC event.

Chimaev’s MMA record improved to 9-0 and he has won his three UFC fights in the span of just over two months. Dana White sees the 26-year-old as a big star in the making and there were plans for him to face Demian Maia next.

That was set up even before he clash against Meerschaert. However, the Swede seems to love calling others out.

Recently, he called out Jorge Masvidal and other Welterweight stars, including Wonderboy.

While Thompson wanted to face Leon Edwards next and joked this was the first time he called out someone on Twitter.

However, Chimaev told Thompson to drop the Edwards fight and claimed they were fighting next:

Chimaev vs Wonderboy next?

The Swede seems to have a lot of support from White, and it will be interesting to see what happens next.

The 26-year-old has been impressive in his short but eventful UFC career and a fight against Thompson would be great.

Thompson is coming off an impressive win over Vicente Luque. The 37-year-old might be a decade older than Chimaev but he is also known for his striking thanks to his incredible kickboxing days.

The UFC setting up anyone against Chimaev would attract the fans and the Swede knows how to play the game.

He might have called out several stars over the past few days, but it is to the UFC to decide who Chimaev faces in his next fight.
