Kevin Holland want someone other than Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor to get a UFC Lightweight title shot

UFC star Kevin Holland was on the Joe Rogan Experience with his coach and this was another extremely entertaining podcast.

That is expected from every Joe Rogan show, and this one was great as well. Holland isn’t someone who is reserved and he shared his views on several happenings in the UFC.

One big talking point has been about Conor McGregor having a third clash with Dustin Poirier. The pair met at UFC 257 and it was Poirier who got a great KO win.

The series is 1-1 between them and Dana White has suggested that the third fight could happen in the summer.

While this is going to be a huge fight for the UFC, there have been some suggestions that this could be for the Lightweight title.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is retired and hasn’t been stripped of the title yet. Poirier and McGregor are keen on grabbing that belt but Holland believes two other names deserve a shot at the gold.

Time to shine for Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler

Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler are the two names that Holland brought up. Chandler had an impressive UFC debut against Dan Hooker while Oliveira has been on an eight-fight winning streak.

“I think Charles [Oliveira] and [Michael] Chandler, even an interim belt, just some kind of belt.

“Charles and Chandler makes sense, people probably can get mad about that because Chandler is coming from Bellator to the UFC but come on dude, he just knocked out Dan Hooker.

“He didn’t take him down and smash him, which we all thought he was going to do, he knocks him outwith that left hook we talked about, right?”

Khabib was also impressed by Oliveira’s recent streak, which included a dominating win over Tony Ferguson, and the Brazilian seems to have left a mark on Holland:

“Charles has been doing great. He deserves to fight for a belt, so him and Mr Bellator fight for a belt, I think that sounds good.”

Oliveira vs Chandler should be a cracker, but White seems keen on holding an unofficial tournament to decide who the champion is.

McGregor and Poirier are also in the mix and there seem to be several contenders for the title.
