Jon Jones is yet to make his UFC heavyweight debut

Light-heavyweight GOAT Jon Jones relinquished his LHW title in August 2020, in a bid to move to the heavyweight division. He did so, in order to chase legacy and greatness.

And, it has been almost a year since his move to the HW division, and Jones still hasn’t made his debut.

But he has been putting in the hard yards, and has actively gained considerable weight and muscle to be HW division ready.

Jones recently took to Twitter for a Q&A session with the fans. A fan told Jones that he had to shut the mouths of people wanting to see him lose.

‘Bones’ stated that he knew a lot of people wished ill on him, and then went to claim that becoming a heavyweight “is a serious process”.

Jones wrote:

“I know lots of them do, that’s why I’m not going to allow anyone to rush me. Becoming a heavy weight is a serious process. Not many people understands what it takes to do it the right way. I’ll be back when I’m good and ready.”

Jon Jones reveals if moving to heavyweight would affect his cardio and speed

There have been a lot of concerns about Jones losing his usual speed and gas tank if he moves to the heavyweight division.

Jones addressed the same when asked by a fan if getting bigger would hurt his cardio and speed.

The light-heavyweight GOAT once again brought out the fact that it would affect his cardio and speed if he rushed the process (of becoming a heavyweight).

Jones’ tweet read:

“It would definitely hurt my speed and cardio if I was to try and rush the process. Achieving greatness isn’t something that’s done overnight, it takes patience and consistency sometimes. Right now my biggest fight is in the gym day by day. Getting more gold will come later.”

Jones will probably face heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou or at the least, some top-ranked heavyweight contender on his HW debut, provided the coast (between him and the promotion) is clear.
