Israel Adesanya was speaking to Ariel Helwani regarding his future fight against Paulo Costa

UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya sounded confident ahead of the possible clash against Paulo Costa for the title.

Izzy defeated Yoel Romero in his last outing and Costa vs Adesanya is surely set. Adesanya was speaking to Ariel Helwani regarding the match-up and explained why Costa was the perfect opponent for him.

Although Adesanya didn’t hate Costa, he felt this fight could remind the fans of what he is capable of doing:

“You’ve almost forgotten me, so I have to remind people of who I am. He is the perfect antagonist. He is big, juiced up (makes noises) and here comes the skinny little black boy with some Kung Fu skills.

“Yeah, you’re gonna see some skills. He is good at what he does but I am great, there’s a difference, a big difference.”

Helwani pressed on when the fight could happen, but Adesanya wasn’t giving away too many details. The champion said his team were working and he would share the details after signing on the dotted line.

Shedding his skin

Helwani also asked Adesanya about the decision to go all blond, something he did back in 2016.

Adesanya gave his own twisted answers as he first compared himself to a snake shedding his skin. The second reason was that he wanted to go Super Saiyan, from the Dragon Ball series.

Adesanya certainly does a lot of trash talking and it will be interesting to see how he does against Costa. The pair have been bickering on social media ever since Adesanya defeat Romero.

Costa believes he can defeat the Stylebender, and this could be one of the biggest first this year.

The UFC has held three events in quick succession while dealing with the coronavirus, and more are set for the coming months.
