Conor McGregor gets candid in first footage of Netflix’s ‘McGregor forever’
UFC superstar Conor McGregor shows no signs of giving up in the trailer for his upcoming Netflix documentary series McGregor Forever.
The four-part, unscripted documentary chronicling the recovery efforts of the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion will premiere on the streaming service on May 17.
Following his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, McGregor sustained injuries including a broken leg, as seen in a preview video for the documentary from producer Religion of Sports.
McGregor claims he worried the fight would be the end of his career, but continued to push on:
“I thought it was over as well, that’s why I flipped into a different mode. Now, it was the adrenaline as well, and I know I would have calmed down, and part of me is thinking, ‘Jesus, imagine it was just taken from me like that.’ I would be a different person, and it was a bit scary, to be honest. Like stone, it’s McGregor forever.”
Gotham Chopra, who helped develop the Religion of Sports, is the film’s director. The executive producers are Deepak Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets, Audie Attar, Peter Berg, and Matt Goldberg. On May 17, Netflix will debut all four one-hour episodes of McGregor Forever.
“Conor is unlike anyone I’ve ever collaborated with. As one of his trainers described him, he’s an entirely unreasonable man,” said Chopra in a statement. “And for that reason, he’s impossible not to watch and be fascinated by. Don’t look away, because I guarantee you, you will definitely miss something inexplicably wild.”
Why does Conor McGregor send an armed guard with his son to school?
After a recent mass shooting in the United States, Conor McGregor said that he now sends an armed guard with his children to school. After concluding filming on The Ultimate Fighter in Las Vegas, the Irishman jetted down to Orlando, Florida to spend time with his family: fiancee Dee Devlin and their three children. But, after learning that seven people were killed in a shooting in Nashville’s Green Hills, McGregor is eager to adopt further safety measures.
The renowned former two-weight world champion praised the American ‘Amber Alert’ system, which alerts people in the region of possible child abductions, in a now-deleted tweet. It was also confirmed that he had been sending armed guards with his children to school long before the tragedy in Tennessee.
According to a report by Mirror UK, the Irishman wrote:
“Just got an ‘Amber alert’ to my phone while here in Orlando. A smart and quick set up that alerts everyone there is a child missing and with full description and detail also. Very smart. I would like to see armed protection at each school also. I have had my children at school here while stateside and have had my own armed guard present at the school.”
“This was prior to the most recent school shooting also. If she shot her way in to that school from the outside, my guard, who is tucked away, armed and unseen, would have seen her and taken her down. Saving those children’s lives. May God and his best people on this earth protect our children!”
