Khabib Nurmagomedov will return to the UFC in a while according to Henry Cejudo

Former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo was speaking to Helen Yee and opened up about Khabib Nurmagomedov and the possible return of The Eagle.

That is one of the biggest talking points in the MMA world. Khabib retired after defeating Justin Gaethje in a shocking announcement right after the fight.

Who won the fight at UFC 254?

Dana White has been trying to get Khabib back into the UFC but has been unsuccessful. However, Cejudo believed that Khabib would be back but it would take him a bit of time:

“I don’t think Khabib is going to come back. .I don’t think he’s going to come back for maybe in a couple of years.

“I think he is going to miss the fight, even though he is always around his brother and he is always training.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov can do what he wants

There is a bit of respect between Khabib and Cejudo and Triple C claimed that his situation of retiring was pretty similar to Khabib’s.

Cejudo was also incredible during his reign in the UFC and he won titles in two divisions. However, he retired in a shock decision after defeating Dominick Cruz:

“If I was in his situation, I would definitely fight again. He’s always training with these guys, you might as well make it exciting and worth it for you, you know.

“He is a great human being and honestly, he can do what he wants but I wouldn’t necessarily string people either.”

Cejudo went on to say that this was the reason why he retired. He spoke with White and appreciated what the UFC had done for him but he wanted to try out other avenues.

Further, Cejudo also claimed that he could be back to fight if it was worth his legacy:

“I will come back if the price is right, it has got to be worth my legacy.”

Cejudo’s decision to retire was also partly due to finances and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.

Khabib, for his part, doesn’t seem keen to return. A fight against Georges St-Pierre has been in the offering as Khabib’s 30th but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

A GSP vs Khabib fight would be a blockbuster and there is time for that to be set up.
