Henry Cejudo wasn’t impressed by the display of Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero in their boxing fight this weekend

Boxing superstars Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero clashed this weekend for the WBA lightweight championship in the world. Davis and Romero went back and forth leading up to the fight, while Davis even resorted to shoving Romero at the ceremonial weigh-ins.

Romero was the aggressor between the two for six rounds, pawing with his jab and establishing comfortable range early on. Romero fought an extremely disciplined fight, slipping counters and staying away from Davis’ power hand.

Romero got too comfortable with his range, and felt like he had the right moment to amp up his attack in the sixth round. He cut Davis to the ropes and looked to unload with powerful combinations from the middle. He walked in too deep in the range of Davis who calmly let loose with a left-hand counter that caught Romero clean and sent him face-first into the ropes before sliding down to the canvas.

While he stood up before the count, the referee had seen enough of Romero who was still on wobbly legs.

Former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo reacted to the fight saying that the set-up to the punch was pretty weak, and Romero telegraphed his punches too much. He said, ‘Romero Didn’t know how to cutoff the ring and was coming in to linear on tank. Congrats to Tank but Over all it was a boring fight. #davisromero’

‘Nate leaving the UFC is good for fighters’ – Henry Cejudo believes Nate Diaz’s departure from the UFC will open up new doors for fighters

The Stockton slugger Nate Diaz has his sights set on a move away from the sport, with a feasible jump to boxing. The younger Diaz brother was among the first wave of fighters that set motion the fighter pay dispute. He has been vocal about his contract with the UFC, and along with his brother Nick, became the first of a very elite group of fighters to negotiate PPV points into their contract without a belt.

Its being rumored that the UFC is stalling Diaz’s move by offering him difficult fights, while he has been throwing names at the UFC top brass for his last fight.

Cejudo weighed in on the situation by saying, “I do believe that Nate leaving the UFC is just going to generate more money for fighters, and kind of giving that leverage to fighters like: Hey man, it’s not the UFC , is not the only place where you can make a good living.”
